The Gordon team specializes in stormwater management, floodplains, and dam safety across a wide variety of project types in the mid-Atlantic region.  Our team consists of licensed Professional Engineers, VA DEQ Combined Stormwater Administrators, LEED Accredited Professionals, and Envision Sustainability Professionals, bringing a comprehensive and credentialed team to every project.  Our team prioritizes collaboration, communication, and excellence in bringing our projects to life and meeting our clients’ programming, budget, and schedule goals with the ever-changing regulatory environment.

 

We follow stormwater management facilities through their full life cycle, from programming to final design to construction to final operation and maintenance. Our team are experts in local and FEMA floodplain regulations and policies, allowing our clients to understand how their projects will interact with these environmentally sensitive areas.  Our hydrologic and hydraulic modeling expertise facilitates the preparation of existing and proposed floodplain analyses and permitting documents across the region.  We also serve as the engineer of record for earthen dam owners in Virginia and Maryland, helping to ensure this critical infrastructure is operating within conformance of the dam safety regulations.

At Gordon, we know design is just the first step in the life span of a stormwater management facility.  The next critical step is the construction and as-built certification process. Gordon provides dam safety and civil engineering services for state-regulated dams in Virginia and Maryland.  We work with dam owners to guide them through every step of the dam permitting process and work to be trusted advisors to our dam owners.  We have successfully guided dams that were in enforcement, operating without a certificate, or in poor condition into full conformance with the dam safety regulations.  Our dedicated group of qualified and passionate engineers work closely with local and state dam safety and emergency planning officials to conduct annual services to ensure that the dams continue to be stewards of dam safety.  Our comprehensive dam safety engineering service offerings include:

Our water resources team are experts in local land use and floodplain regulations, and we regularly navigate the complex floodplain regulations to advise our projects working in close proximity or within the regulatory floodplain.  Our team is well integrated with local floodplain regulations, regularly participating in floodplain work groups and regulatory update processes.
